I was joined by Artist Brittany E. Lampe to try to determine if we had indeed found Okinawa’s best apple pie. I won’t spoil the ending for you, you’ll have to watch the video to find out, but what I can say is that we did find an interesting pie that you’d be happy to bring home for dessert, the price was right, and Brittany and I had way too much coffee on this day.
I typically find that Japanese bakery goods are not quite the same as what I imagine when I think of a trip to a bakery back home. Take that for what it is, sometimes it’s different in a good way, and sometimes it isn’t. What I do find hard to get used to, being a morning person, is that bakeries generally don’t open in Japan until 10am. That’s heading dangerously close to lunchtime for me, so a bakery breakfast on the go is usually not possible.
Anyhow, this was a nice surprise and a different style of apple pie.
