PCS-ing can be tough for kids. Saying goodbye to friends, making your way in a new place and finding out where you fit in. Although lots of people are nervous arriving in a new place, for the most part kids that arrive on Okinawa soon learn what a great place it is to live, how many exciting activities there are to take part in, and pretty soon they don’t want to leave!
From music and cultural activities, to karate, to scuba diving, and of course the great beaches on Okinawa, …it’s kind of like being on vacation full time.
We had a chance to speak with some kids in the video above who’s families have PCS-ed to Okinawa and they’ve shared some of their favorite experiences. We hope you’ll enjoy their stories and be excited to start your own Okinawa experience.
There are Plenty of great experiences to be had. And there are programs to help you fit in and get to know the island. Youth Sponsorship, for example is a program that new kids should look into, inquire at school abouth Youth Sponsorship Programs and other esources for newcomers.
