The Island Breeze Guesthouse in south Onna Village is a beautiful place, one of the nicest AirBnB experiences we’ve had yet in Okinawa. The owner, Tom Burkhard is a long time resident of Japan and is perfectly fluent in Japanese.
Tom is quite the handyman and has built a lot of the facilities himself including the barbecue area and the hot tub which is available for guests to use. He even made the sailboat you see in the video, By Hand! And if you are extra nice there’s even a chance Tom will take you for a sail (depending on the season and weather conditions)
The house has 2 queen beds, 2 single, and 2 futons for extra guests. But it’s the location that really impressed us. It’s about a 5 minute walk to a beautiful little beach park that’s very private and tucked away. One of the most peaceful little beaches we’ve seen on Okinawa.
You can view the Island Breeze on AirBnB HERE and we highly recommend Tom as a host for a little getaway. Say hi to Tom for us when you arrive, and let us know how you enjoyed your time at Island Breeze!
